The acai berry diet is a phrase that is becoming more and more common these days but what exactly is the acai berry diet? Well strangely enough, the acai berry diet doesn't really exist. Unlike the grapefruit diet, cabbage soup diet or Atkins diet, the acai berry is used as a diet supplement rather than a plan or regime.
The acai berry is reported to be extremely good for aiding weight loss because it contains cyanidin, which is a very powerful antioxidant compound. This was the result of a study carried out in Japan that stated that the compound cyanidin works by reducing fat absorption. So how does adding acai berry to your diet actually work? Apart from the antioxidant properties of this Brazilian fruit, it also contains a high amount of fibre. The fibre helps your digestive system to process the food that you ingest in a more efficient manner. In addition to the fibre, the acai berry contains essential fatty acids. These fatty acids aid our immune systems and help lower blood pressure. Hardly surprising then that the acai berry has been described as a super food. Acai berry is also used for colon cleansing so if you add this together with antioxidants, fibre and fatty acids, you can understand how adding some form of the fruit to your diet will not only help you lose weight, but make you feel and look better. Please be aware that you cannot buy acai berry as a fresh fruit outside of South America. This is because it spoils very quickly. You will probably have to buy it in some sort of supplement form or freeze dried. |
